Current Obsession: Dust It

Good things DO come in small packages!  Enter Dust It by Oasis (Schwarzkopf).  This tiny little shaker can do some wonderful things.  I use this on myself as well as my clients.  Dust It gives you a great matte texture when you dust some into your hand, rub together, and then rake threw your hair.  My favorite use is to apply it directly to the root and then give a little tease to create volume that won’t budge!  This product is great for girls like me with fine hair.

Bride Katie: Lanikai

Our bride Katie from Alaska, hands down, has the BEST story of how she met her husband!  They intially met when they were in Jr. High on a military base in Germany.  They didn’t exactly get along and then soon parted ways.  Fast forward to a few years ago.  They reconnect on Facebook and sparks started to fly.  She moved to Oregon so they could be together then they came to Hawaii to get married.  The cherry on top of this story; the same thing happened for her mother!! Our team absolutely loved working with Katie and her family!  Everyone was so fun and relaxed, especially the bride!  We wish her a happily ever after!  Check out the amazing and kind review she left for us here.   Location: Lanikai/ Private Estate Photographer: Laura Fleming Photography

Current Obsession: L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes

I’ve been a Voluminous Carbon Black mascara devotee for some time, but I think I may have found my new favorite mascara!  I can’t image that there is much difference in the formula from the original Voluminous mascara, so the wand is what holds all the power.  It not only adds volume, as the name states, but I definitely notices that its lengthens as well!  I admit, I didn’t really give this mascara a chance at first.  I used it a few times by quickly swiping it across my lashes and didn’t really notice anything remarkable about it.  It wasn’t until I ran out of my trusty carbon black that I really took the time to experiment with it.  By working the spikey brush from root to tip slowly and applying a second coat, I really started to see what all the fuss was about.  No my lashes don’t look

8 Meltproof Summer Makeup tricks!

Tired of spending time on your makeup every morning only to have it melt away by lunch?  Follow these simple tricks to keep you looking fresh faced all summer long! 1. Take Time To PRIME! Your biggest defense against a mid-day meltdown is an often skipped step: Primer.  It doesn’t take much of this stuff to get you covered.  For Oily skin, choose a mattifying, silicone based formula such as Makeup Forever All Mat.  For eyes, you really cant beat the staying power of Urban Decay Potion Primer. 2. No Two Areas Are Created Equal: And therefor no two areas require the same amount of foundation coverage.  Heck, some areas of your skin may not even need any foundation at all!  Think about; the less makeup on your face, the less there is to slide off!  Analyze your face to

In My Kit: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Airbrush Foundation

As a professional makeup artist, I am often asked, “what kind of makeup do you use?”  The answer to that question is quite complex.  It depends on the type of product and the client it is being applied to.  But one constant is my Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC Skin) airbrush foundation. The first thing that drew me to the line was the fact that its not only cruelty free, its also 100% vegan.  No animal ingredients means lower chance of an allergic reaction.  OCC states on its site, ” We pledge never to use animal-derived ingredients (including Lanolin, Beeswax, Carmine and more) in our products and accessories. Beyond any personal convictions, we simply believe that it’s unnecessary, especially when there are alternatives that are just as readily available, and equally effective in the formulation of our products.”   Gotta love
